STU Vice-Chancellor Pays Special Visit to Sunyani Alumni Chapter

The Vice-Chancellor of Sunyani Technical University (STU), Ing. Prof. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, paid a special visit to the Sunyani Chapter of the STU Alumni Association on Sunday, March 8, 2026, where he was honoured with a plaque in recognition of his outstanding support and commitment to alumni development.

The visit coincided with the Chapter’s Annual Get-Together held at Mungo Park Guest Homes in Sunyani under the theme, “Reconnecting, Renewing and Strengthening Our Bond.” The event brought together key stakeholders and alumni members.

Delivering the welcome address, the President of the STU Alumni, Sunyani Chapter, Mr. Kwaku Owusu, expressed his delight at the Vice-Chancellor’s presence, describing it as a demonstration of the University’s growing commitment to strengthening alumni relations. He noted that the gathering provided a platform for alumni, as products of the University, to deepen their networks, renew relationships, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Sunyani and Ghana at large.

Mr. Owusu highlighted the longstanding relationship between the Vice-Chancellor and the Alumni Association, recalling his active involvement as Pro Vice-Chancellor during the maiden formal homecoming in 2017. According to him, that engagement played a pivotal role in the formation of the current Global Alumni Association, which has since enhanced the image and impact of the Association both locally and in the diaspora.

He further commended the Vice-Chancellor for his significant contributions to alumni activities, particularly his support during the University’s 55th Anniversary celebrations in 2022, which also facilitated the organisation of the second official homecoming. He added that the Vice-Chancellor’s ongoing visits to various alumni chapters have brought the University closer to its graduates, thereby strengthening the bond between the institution and its alumni community.

While acknowledging these achievements, Mr. Owusu also drew attention to key areas that require further consideration, including the need for a well-resourced Alumni Office, the proposed renaming and rebranding of the University’s crèche as the STU Alumni Crèche, and increased investment in membership drive initiatives to boost alumni participation.

In recognition of his exemplary leadership and dedication to promoting alumni engagement, Ing. Prof. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah was presented with a commemorative plaque by the Sunyani Chapter.

The event concluded with a renewed sense of unity and commitment among alumni members, as participants engaged in discussions and networking activities aimed at advancing the interests of the University and its graduates.
