Autobiography

Dr. Zoya Evans Kpamma has over 15 years of experience as an academic and a professional architect. His academic experience is based on several years of teaching and researching various aspects of the built environment. His role as Head of Department and Dean of Faculty, at the Sunyani Technical University, has given him over seven years of experience in academic administration and leadership. As a registered architect, he has designed and supervised the construction of various educational, healthcare, industrial, religious and residential buildings.

He has academic and professional qualifications in Architecture and Construction Management. He has a bachelor’s degree in architecture, a postgraduate diploma in architecture, a master’s degree in construction management and a doctor of philosophy degree in construction management. He is a member of the Ghana Institute of Architects (GIA) and the International Group for Lean Construction (IGLC).

At the Sunyani Technical University, he has taught and examined various undergraduate courses (at the BTech and HND levels), such as Building Drawing, Building Services, Construction Technology, and Research Methods. As an external examiner, He has examined the thesis of over 45 postgraduate students at the Department of Construction Technology and Management, KNUST, Kumasi. Dr. Kpamma has also co-developed various successful proposals for grants, such as the Teaching and Learning Innovation Fund (TALIF) and Skills Development Fund (SDF).

His research work, largely focused on building performance and usability, lean construction, design management, and user-centered design, has appeared in various reputable journals such as Building and Environment (Elsevier), Architectural Engineering and Design Management (Tylor & Francis); Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management (Emerald); and Journal of Professional Issues in Engineering Education and Practice (ASCE). He has also participated and presented papers at various local and international conferences/seminars in various countries, such as Ghana, Brazil, South Africa, Greece, and the Netherlands.
